Review Policy
Last updated 29 October 2026
Customers can review a business on US Directory after confirming their email address. One-star and five-star reviews follow the same rules.
Who can write a review
You can review a business you dealt with as a customer in the last 12 months, including a job that was booked but never done. Write about your own experience. The owner and staff of the business and their relatives may not review it, and neither may its competitors or anyone who was paid or promised something for the review.
You can write one review of a business in 12 months, and you can't edit it after it's published. By posting a review, you also accept our Terms.
How a review gets published
After you send a review, we email you a 6-digit code. Enter it to confirm your address. We delete reviews that aren't confirmed within 24 hours.
Once you confirm, automatic checks run and most reviews go live at once. A person looks at a review before it's published if it comes from an email address at the business's own domain or from an account that manages the listing, if its text matches another review on the site, or if the business receives an unusual number of reviews in one day. While we check, you'll see "being checked". We usually publish or remove the review within a few days.
When a review is published, we email the business that manages the listing.
What the listing shows
Each review shows your first name and last initial, the month of the job and the label "Email confirmed". That label means we confirmed your email address. We don't check whether the job took place. We don't show your full name or email address, and we share them with the business only if the law requires it. A business's average rating appears once it has at least 5 reviews.
Reviews are the opinions of their authors, and US Directory doesn't endorse them.
What a review must not contain
- Links, phone numbers or email addresses.
- Home addresses, full names of staff or anyone else, or other personal details.
- Photos you didn't take yourself, or photos of people's faces or personal documents.
- Threats, slurs or harassment.
- Claims you know to be false.
- Anything that isn't about this business and this job.
When we remove a review
We remove a published review only if it breaks the rules on this page, if we have good reason to believe it wasn't written by a customer (for example, the business disputes it and the author can't show they were a customer), if the author asks us to, or if the law requires it. Unless the author asked for the removal, we email them the reason.
We don't remove a review because the business dislikes it. No one can pay us to add or remove a review.
Anyone can report a review that breaks these rules through the contact page, at any time.
Copyright
If you believe a photo or text in a review infringes your copyright, email us at email with a link to the review and a description of your work. We look at every notice and remove material that infringes.
What a business can do
If a business manages its listing, it can post one public reply to each review and edit that reply within 24 hours. An edited reply is marked "edited".
It can also dispute a review within 30 days of publication by telling us why. The review stays visible while we look into it, and we answer the business. If the business says the author was never its customer, we may ask the author for proof, such as an invoice or a receipt. We use this proof only to decide the dispute, don't share it with the business, and delete it once we decide. If the author doesn't send proof within 14 days, we remove the review.
Businesses may invite their customers to leave a review, but they must not invite only the customers they expect to be happy or offer anything in return. We remove reviews obtained this way.
No business can delete reviews, and reviews don't affect where a business appears on US Directory.
